Unconventional object oscillating near Muroc AAF — aluminum surface, slow movement (Incident #2)

At approximately noon on an unspecified date in July 1947, Lange Shoops (Office of Chief of Engineering Division) observed an object at 5-8 miles distance from Muroc AAF. The object had an unconventional shape, appeared metallic with an aluminum-colored surface (sun reflected), and moved from an intermediate altitude in an oscillating fashion, nearly reaching the ground surface before climbing again. The object was observed for approximately 8 minutes before moving off slowly in the distance. Evaluation: unresolved.

“It appeared to be metallic because the method in which it was flying the sun was reflected from an apparently aluminum colored surface. The object moved from an intermediate altitude in an oscillating fashion, almost to the surface of the ground and then started climbing again.”
