Two objects falling to earth near Bakersfield, California

Fourth Air Force (Hamilton Field) reported that Mr. Les Buchner of Bakersfield, California observed two objects falling to earth from unknown source on March 5, 1948 between 1610 and 1655 hours, toward Buena Vista Lake. On March 8, 1948, Mr. Denio (Pacific General Electric Company employee) reported two objects falling north of Bakersfield, one appearing to be on fire with red and black smoke. Searching parties and aircraft found no trace of the objects.

Observation by Mr. Denio... of two objects which fell to earth from unknown source north of Bakersfield, California, 8 March 1948. One object seemed to be on fire with red and black smoke trailing behind.”

Two separate dates (March 5 and March 8) referenced; grouped here as related sightings. No physical evidence recovered. OCR is noisy but these passages are legible. Investigation was initiated by Fourth Air Force HQ.
